Last chance to register for Starlight

Tuesday, 19 June 2012

With just a few days to go until the Starlight Walk, women across South West Herts are being urged to make a 'last gasp' decision to sign up for the Hospice's flagship event.

Over 1,300 walkers have already signed up for Saturday's (23rd June) walk but with just 200 more walkers, the Hospice could be well on its way to meeting its £150,000 target from the event.

Hospice Director of Fundraising and Communications, Paul Gauntlett said 'The excitement surrounding the event has been building over the last few weeks and it's been great to see so many women wearing their t-shirts in the build up to the event when out training.  The Starlight Walk is a vital fundraising event for the Hospice and I hope that women will turn out on Saturday night to get behind their local charity.'

He added 'The economic climate has made it increasingly difficult for us to reach our target.  We need to raise £3.8 million in charitable income once again this year so that we can continue to provide free care to people living with a life limiting or terminal illness.  Everyone who signs up to either our 6 or 13 mile walk is making a difference'.

The walk which starts off at the earlier time of 10pm this year will once again have a big build up with celebrity Martin Kemp setting walkers off into the night skies.  Entertainment will take place at the Colosseum prior to the walk and a medal will be given to all walkers, along with a light breakfast and cuppa from our Hospice volunteers.

Walkers who go on to raise more than £100 in sponsorship will also be automatically entered into a draw to win dinner and accommodation for two at The Grove, a Links of London charm bracelet or a free round of drinks at Bar Bodega.

Online registration is only available until midnight on Wednesday 20th June.  You can confirm your place by clicking here

Registrations will also be taken on the night between 8.30pm and 9.30pm but walkers are being encouraged to avoid the queues by signing up online.
