Estate Agents follow their hearts for the Starlight Walk
Friday, 27 April 2012
Local Estate Agency, Imagine have renewed their commitment to supporting the Peace Hospice this week by entering a team of 10 for the 2012 Starlight Walk. The all female team will be joined by 10 of their male co-workers who have volunteered to be event marshals.
Agency boss Mike Cole explained: ‘After an inspiring visit to the Hospice three years ago to see how they help people, we have taken the Peace Hospice somewhat to our hearts at Imagine. Offering our support has been a truly rewarding experience and one that we aim to continue in the years ahead.’
Senior Lettings Negotiator Claire Berke is the team leader in charge of organising the training schedule for Sunday morning walks. She said: ‘Our Managing Director Mike has set us a 2012 mile challenge for this year and the Starlight Walk is a key part of us meeting our target. We are hoping to raise £5000 for the Hospice through all our activities.’
Property Manager Miranda Ford added: ‘We also take part in ‘Wear it Wednesday’. The team wear their Starlight Walk t-shirts in the office, out to appointments and even when they walk along the High Street at lunch time. It is heart-warming how many people ask about the Walk and give us their support.’
One member of the team has her own reasons for taking part. Lettings Manager Marcia Brightman was so inspired by the care her father-in-law Oscar Nembhard received at the Peace Hospice four years ago that she ended up working there as a volunteer. Marcia explained: ‘We are a big, local family and at times it felt like we took the Hospice over, there were so many of us visiting, but the staff understood and always made us feel welcome.’
Some members of the team are taking part in the Walk for the first time this year but already claim to be ‘feeling the love’. Katrina Fernandes and Cordelia Makowski summed up saying: ‘We've heard that it can be quite tough out there towards the end of the Walk but the people of Watford turn out along the route to give their encouragement and we can't imagine a better feeling than that.’Teams and individuals are invited to click here to sign up for the Starlight Walk.
