About Us
The Peace Hospice brings peace, comfort and dignity
to patients and families facing the crisis of cancer
and other terminal illnesses. We focus on enabling
patients to live their lives to the full and providing
the best quality of life when a cure is not possible.
The Peace Hospice is based in Watford. It provides
a warm, friendly and supportive environment in which
everyone feels welcome.
Our specialist team of doctors, nurses and therapists
use their expertise and skills to care for people
with a terminal illness and provide support for their
families and carers. Our care is holistic helping
with emotional and spiritual issues as well as physical
symptoms through our inpatient, day and outpatient
care, hospice at home service and bereavement support
In our day care and inpatient units we do much more
than simply manage pain and treat symptoms. A range
of therapies like massage, physiotherapy and relaxation
techniques help our patients to come to terms with
their condition.
Our social work/ family services team is there to
help patients and their families with practical and
psychological issues. We support bereaved families
and friends through our bereavement service, which
also runs the 'STARS' grief programme for children.
All our care is provided free of charge. We are reliant
on voluntary income for 75% of our funding with only
a quarter from the NHS, therefore donations from the
community are vital to support the care we give.
